The art of seasonal decor: adapting your interior to the rhythm of the seasons

Seasonal decoration is an excellent way to refresh and personalise your interior without the need for major works. Here are some tips to easily transform your space throughout the year, by playing with textiles, table arrangements and lighting.

Spring

  • Textiles: For a springtime feel, go for cushions and tablecloths in fresh, natural colours. Floral patterns and pastel shades (aqua green, sky blue, light orange, earth tones, etc.) bring a sense of renewal to your spaces, a bit like in nature! I recommend mixing these more neutral shades with a few pops of colour in the decor.
  • Table arrangement: Fresh flowers such as tulips or daffodils for a burst of colour and nature on your table, generous and not too contrived.

Summer

  • Textiles: Choose light throws in cotton sheeting or linen, like beach towels, and tablecloths in bright shades such as yellow, turquoise or coral. These colours evoke the warmth and energy of summer.
  • Table arrangement: Citrus fruit such as lemons and oranges in bowls or baskets for a zesty, refreshing feel.

Autumn

  • Textiles: Bring warm colours such as brown, orange and red into your cushions and throws. Materials like velvet or wool add a cosy, comfortable dimension.
  • Table arrangement: Ferns, branches or autumn leaves to decorate your table. These natural elements perfectly reflect the spirit of the season; you can also add a solid wood board in the centre of the table with a few candles and some fir branches for that lovely scent!

Winter

  • Textiles: Favour soft, warm materials such as wool or faux fur for cushions and throws. Colours such as white, fir green, teal blue, and red veering towards burgundy are ideal for creating a wintry atmosphere.
  • Table arrangement: Candles of different sizes and/or small battery-powered fairy lights for a warm, welcoming atmosphere. Scented candles can also add an olfactory dimension to the decor, though do pay attention to their composition (natural soy wax, natural fragrances, etc.).

Light

  • General tip: Lighting plays a crucial role in the atmosphere of your home. Vary your light sources with fairy lights, accent lamps and lanterns to create different moods depending on the season. In winter, favour soft, warm light in small touches, while in summer, bright, natural light will be ideal.

By following these tips, you can easily and quickly adapt your interior decoration to the seasons. No need to repaint your walls: a few adjustments to your textiles and table arrangements are enough to keep your home in tune with the seasons. Turn your space into a reflection of nature and the passing seasons, and enjoy a home that evolves over time.
